Ingredients
- 113 g unsalted butter - softened (about 1/2 cup)
- 100 g brown sugar - packed (about 1/2 cup)
- 50 g white sugar - about 1/4 cup
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 160 g all-purpose flour - about 1 1/4 cups
- 0.5 tsp baking soda
- 0.25 tsp salt
- 170 g chocolate chips - about 1 cup
Steps
- Preheat oven to 175°C / 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment.
- Cream softened butter with brown sugar and white sugar until smooth (about 1 minute).
- Mix in egg and vanilla until combined.
- Add flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir just until no dry flour remains.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Scoop dough into 12 mounds (about 1.5 tbsp each) and place spaced out on the sheet.
- Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are lightly golden and centers look slightly soft.
- Cool on the tray for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack to finish cooling.
Notes
For softer, chewier cookies, don’t overbake — the centers should look slightly underdone when you pull them out. Optional: chill the dough 15–30 minutes for thicker cookies.
